I didn’t buy the idea of cheap 5G phones in mid-2021, but some of you are Samsung. So, there is a phone like Galaxy A22 5G: the phone that most people want to bring 5G without asking a high price (according to Samsung standard). Its starting price is Rs.
However, Samsung keeps a premium for its Samsung experience, the Galaxy A22 5G will have many of the features you see on more expensive Samsung phones. It is especially beautiful in mint color variations, it is built like a tank. This phone is aimed at existing Samsung users and young buyers who want a taste of the 5G experience, which is another concept in India as you read.
So, is this something good? After using the Galaxy A22 5G for about 10 days, here are my thoughts.
Design
The Galaxy A22 5G is a beautiful smartphone; No two thoughts about it. Like the Galaxy A52 and A72, the A22 5G gets a sleek design: it tries to set its own course in a sea of phones that look like a matte finish, flat surfaces, and overall design. The mint color variation (light green) completes the design and incorporates a light-reflective gradient. The finished square camera design somehow gives it elegance.
Like most affordable Samsung phones, the Galaxy A22 5G has a plastic unibody construction. However, designers have used good quality plastic that mimics the matte glass finish. Build quality is, in fact, comparable to previous Nokia Lumia devices. The thick profile allows Samsung to integrate a 3.5mm headphone jack and a power key fitted fingerprint sensor. Can prevent scratches and scratches on the back.
Unfortunately, if you look at the front of it all that appeal will end: a front similar to the cheaper Android smartphones from 2019 onwards. From Rs 20,000, the phone does not have a bulb beard and a large drop style peak. The actual display is 6.6 inches, which makes the phone a giant. Weighing in at 203 grams, this is by no means a comfortable phone.
The 5G-induced cost reduction is obvious on the Galaxy A22 5G, but Samsung was able to balance everything well. I can still say that the Galaxy A22 5G is one of the most beautiful and well-built 5G smartphones in the world.
Display
Although Samsung has made a name for itself on its AMOLED displays in the past, the 5G-induced cost reduction eliminates the OLED panel in favor of an IPS LCD panel. Although I tried my best to spice up the AMOLED vs LCD discussion on social media, an AMOLED display is more appealing. Also, this LCD display used by Samsung is dim. Great for browsing on social media or watching YouTube videos, but next to the Galaxy M42 5G's AMOLED display, it looks dim. Compared to Xiaomi's Mi 10i LCD display, the display of this A22 5G is washed out.

I understand the efforts to reduce costs, and as far as you know you will not complain. Samsung is trying to impress with the 90Hz update rate, and it helps a lot with smooth scrolling. The viewing angles are wide without significant color loss, but the sunlight is not clear. The Samsung A22 5G does not specify any kind of glass protection, so you should use a screen protector to keep it safe; My unit did not receive any scratches.
Performance
MediaTek's Dimensionality allows 700 brands to launch 5G phones at affordable prices of Rs 20,000. I found this chip on the Pogo M3 Pro 5G and Galaxy A22 5G, which provide the same user experience. With 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in my base version, the Galaxy A22 5G is one of the fastest Samsung phones you can get in this segment.
While running Samsung's resource-intensive One UI 3.1 interface, the Galaxy A22 5G keeps everything running smoothly and quickly. I have not seen any unusually long upload times or random crashes on this phone. If you're primarily browsing social media, managing emails, making video calls, watching videos, taking photos, this Galaxy A22 5G has enough functionality to make you happy.
Switching to mobile gaming, Dimensionality 700 began to show its limitations. Call of Duty: Request games like Mobile, Battlefields, Mobile India, Asphalt 9: Legends follow medium / low graphics settings, with occasional frame drops. Lighter-on-resource games like Shadow Fight 4: Arena and F1 Clash stick with fewer graphics and often lose frames. Since my phone is working on early software development, I take advantage of the skepticism of the Galaxy A22 5G. An update will remove these errors.
Where it struggles in gaming, it creates a UI user experience. Compared to Xiaomi's sophisticated MIUI 12 and Realme's Bland Realme UI 2, Samsung's One UI 3.1 is slimmer than Android 11. The basic software experience, i.e. beautifully designed icons, are well designed as you get on the expensive Galaxy S21. The interface components and all the packages of Samsung plugins are systematically integrated with the system. The edge panel can be useful if you do multitasking often.
Samsung relies on partnerships to maintain pricing, so there are plenty of pre-loaded apps and integrated ads available. There are pre-installed Dictoc clones that can remove everything. Samsung pre-loads a dozen Google and Microsoft applications with its own computer applications. From time to time, you will see ads on the weather app when Samsung ads are displayed in notifications.
The overall user experience is not as pure as the Android experience near Motorola, but these days you know what you get when you buy a Samsung phone. Although I had the time and interest to delve deeper into ad-turning systems, Samsung wanted to make it easier for regular users to do so.
Samsung confirms two years of Android OS updates and three years of security patches. It looks good for Rs 20,000, but since the A22 5G is about future evaluation at this stage, the three-year OS upgrade may be better, especially considering the induction speed of 5G in India.
How is the audio? That's all you can expect from a small loudspeaker. Volume sizes are not as high as the prices of Realmy and Redmi smartphones. When making calls through a loudspeaker, the volume is bad and it is good to stick a pair of earphones. On Reliance Jio's network, I've never seen connectivity issues, and mobile data speeds were on par with other phones, even in the basement.
However, the main reason you buy the Galaxy A22 5G (Drum Roll Q) is 5G, which Juhi Chawla is keen to discuss with the courts. The offer includes 11 5G bands, which is more comfortable than the cheaper 5G phones A78 band and some others. This is good, but this time everything is in limbo.
Cameras
Another area that has been compromised in favor of the Samsung 5G. The Galaxy A22 5G has three cameras on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Overall, the rear cameras are Xiaomi Mi10i 5G like nowhere else in Samsung's own 4G smartphones.
Only the main 48-megapixel camera is used. The OIS is missing from the 4G variant, but the main camera performance remains unchanged. Compared to the Poco M3 Pro 5G and the Realme Narzo 30 5G, the main camera of the Galaxy A22 5G can delight the shutter box. During the day, the camera maintains a close-up of natural white balance with magical size details. However, it struggles with exposure and relies on artificial enhancement to illuminate photos with sharpness and detail when the amount of light is low. Night mode is great for this expensive phone.
The Ultra-White camera has no dynamic ranges, but in very bright burning conditions, it does a good job. The 5-megapixel sensor does not pay attention to details and sharpness, and in low light, it fights. With the dedicated depth sensor, you get good portrait photos, and Samsung's instructions do a good job of separating the material.
The front camera is good as long as you have enough light on your face. The details aren’t great, but the dynamic range is good, and the algorithms like to enhance skin tone. Any photo on a light or bright background will make the Galaxy A22 5G look like an animated cartoon. Samsung may fix this with a future software update.
Battery
As the show runs on 4G networks, the Galaxy A22 5G offers better battery life. The 5000mAh battery lasts for a day and a half with moderate usage (average screen output is 6.5 hours on time). People who spend about 2-3 hours on social media, whisper an hour call with friends and take lots of photos and messages, which last all day and some go away the next day.
Unfortunately, Samsung is slowly integrating its endurance test 15W charger with the Galaxy A22 5G. It takes 10 percent to two hours to top up the battery. 25W fast charging is also supported, but you will need to purchase that adapter separately. For a phone built for the 5G generation, connecting a slow 15W charger in 2021 means zero, especially with a similarly priced Real X7 that can do 0-100 percent with a 50W charger in an hour.
Conclusion
5G is definitely the future, but for now, it makes no sense to invest in an affordable 5G smartphone, especially since all the compromises are made by brands to lower the price. The Galaxy A22 5G is no different from its counterparts as it drives the 5G hype waves with a lot of compromises for the 2021 phone. With the decline of 5G in India, the Galaxy A22 5G may be getting closer to its lifespan, i.e. more updates and outdated performance.
If you have decided to buy a Samsung phone for around Rs 20,000, the Galaxy A22 5G is an overall eye-catching package. Closer to the Galaxy A32 4G, it has more source power. Compared to the Galaxy M42 5G, you get a modern design, better build quality, a two-year OS upgrade offer, and better battery life.
On the other hand, competition from OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi, and iQOO is strong this year. Compared to the Galaxy A22 5G, the Realm X7 and IQ Z3 look pale. Compared to other dimensional 700-power phones from Realmy, Redmi, and Pogo, the Galaxy A22 5G has a large margin of price, which keeps money seekers at bay.
However, the overall smartphone experience is better than the 5G phone priced at Rs 20,000; We test Chic Look, Solid Build Quality, Fast Performance, Beautiful UI Experience, and Battery Life. What it offers is expensive, Samsung should lower the price to make it more competitive, but those who want to wear the 5G tag without spending too much will love it.
